Very sad news i'm afraid. Following his battle for life over the last few months, young Isiolo died in his sleep on Saturday night

We have rescued another baby elephant, a 3 week old male; he is tiny though, looks only days old by his size. Big character too!!

The weekend also saw the rescue of a 4 day old female elephant - she'd fallen into an open manhole along the Mzima Springs pipeline!

The death of Isiolo

At such times, amidst the grief that will be shared by all Isiolo’s many foster-parents all over the world, one simply has to give thanks that he had a peaceful end, surrounded by those that loved him, and spared the lonely isolation of a slow and agonizing death in the bush due to the loss of his elephant mother and family. In the Nursery he enjoyed many “mother figures”, not one of whom did not cherish and adore him. Rest in Peace Isiolo. emo-emunlove.gif

The elephant rescue team should be back soon, headed to Shaba this morning - no details yet on this latest orphan!

Shaba, as he has been named has arrived safely at the nursery. He is another tiny baby and so it will be touch and go for sometime. The team will of course be working tirelessly to give him all he needs. emo-emlove.gif

According to the Facebook entry, it's "touch and go" for this little one, as well as for the other female calf just rescued from Tsavo.
