BRING THE ELEPHANT HOME

Sleeping under a highway-bridge, eating grass polluted by exhaust fumes, getting hit by traffic, being given drugs to make themwork longer and forget about their misery ... this is no way of life for a living creature! Bring the Elephant HOME has been created to support abused and overworked elephants in Thailand. The first and most urgently in need of our attention are elephants who are made to beg on the streets of Thailand. The aim of the walk is to get all elephants being used for
begging off the street.

AMBOSELI TRUST FOR ELEPHANTS
"The Amboseli Elephant Research Project is the longest study of wild elephants in the world. We work to understand the lives and ensure the future of 1,500 elephants in the Amboseli ecosystem fed by the waters of Kilimanjaro.The Amboseli Trust for Elephants aims to ensure the long-term conservation and welfare of Africa's elephants in the context of human needs and pressures through scientific research, training, community outreach, public awareness and advocacy.The elephants of Amboseli in Kenya are the most celebrated wild elephants in the world. Since 1972, close observation by Cynthia Moss and her research team has led to intimate knowledge of these intelligent and complex animals."

THE ELEPHANT SANCTUARY

The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, founded in 1995, is the nation's single natural habitat refuge developed specifically for endangered African and Asian elephants. It operates on 2,700 acres in Hohenwald, Tennessee - 85 miles southwest of Nashville.

PAWS is a true sanctuary -- a permanent home where animals come first.
Founded by Hollywood animal trainer and author, Pat Derby, and partner, Ed Stewart, PAWS maintains 3 sanctuaries for captive wildlife -- 30 acres in Galt, California, and 100 acres (the Amanda Blake Wildlife Refuge) in Herald, California. PAWS is also in Phase I development of . "Ark 2000", 2300 acres of beautiful natural habitat in San Andreas, CA.


DAVID SHELDRICK WILDLIFE TRUST

"The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is a small, flexible charity, established in 1977 to honour to memory of a famous Naturalist, David Leslie William Sheldrick MBE, the founder Warden of Tsavo East National Park in Kenya, where he served from its inception in 1948 until his transfer to Nairobi in 1976 to head the Planning Unit of the newly created Wildlife Conservation & Management Department. David died 6 months later but his legacy of excellence and the systems he installed for the management of Tsavo and wildlife generally in Kenya, particularly in the sphere of wildlife husbandry and ethics, lives on." Featured speakers at the 2006 EARS Conference in Hohenwald, Hank Hammatt and Dr. Susan Mikota, captivated the audience with their efforts to save the Sumatran elephants. SANWILD WILDLIFE SANCTUARY
We are honored to have Louise Joubert, founder and director of the SanWild Wildlife Sanctuary in the Limpopo province of South Africa, join us here at The Elephant Commentator. FRIENDS OF PHILLY ZOO ELEPHANTS
Our Rowan Morrison is involved with this highly publicized campaign to free the Philadelphia Zoo Elephants. And now Rowan and her group has acheived a major, internationally reported victory! They have freed Dulary to The Elephant Sanctuary and have forced the zoo to send the other elephants to far better conditions at the Cleveland Zoo. We are proud of you, Rowan!
